Big name Cabinet speakers to visit Dudley
Dudley Conservatives have announced that two Cabinet heavyweights will be visiting Dudley.
Dudley South Conservatives have secured the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media, Olympics & Sport, to speak alongside local MP Chris Kelly at their annual dinner on Friday 3 February 2012. Mr Hunt is frequently tipped as ‘one to watch’ and a future potential Conservative Leader. The venue will be the Granary Hotel and Restaurant, Heath Lane, Shenstone, Kidderminster, Worcester DY10 4BS (granary-hotel.co.uk).
Meanwhile Dudley North Conservatives have secured the Rt. Hon. Philip Hammond MP, Secretary of State for Transport, to speak alongside neighbouring MP Chris Kelly at their annual dinner on Friday 2 March 2012. The venue, for the second year running, will be the recently refurbished Brambles restaurant, 2 Priory Road, Dudley DY1 1HH (thebramblesdudley.co.uk).
Mr Kelly said: “I am delighted that we have two of my Conservative Cabinet colleagues visiting us. Both Jeremy and Philip hold fascinating briefs and will be able to give us a detailed insight into what their Departments are doing for Dudley, the Black Country and the wider West Midlands. They will also be able to give us a valuable insight into life in the Cabinet a year and a half on from the historic formation of the coalition government. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary have both, of course, visited the Dudley borough in the recent past - I never miss an opportunity to make the case for our area and invite the Conservative Party's ‘big guns’ to come see us and how we do it here in the Black Country!”
